In short
- We collect only what we need to run Road Coach: how to sign you in, your study progress and your purchases.
- We never sell your data and we don't show ads. There are no third-party trackers or advertising cookies.
- You can ask us to delete your account and data at any time: support@roadcoach.ai.
What we collect
- Sign-in: the email address or phone number you enter to receive a one-time code. The code is delivered by our messaging provider (Twilio). We store only a one-way fingerprint of your email or phone to recognise you next time, not the address itself.
- Study progress: your answers, which questions you have mastered, saved or need to review, hints used, your difficulty level and chosen state and language.
- Purchases: the plan, amount, date and payment status. Payments are handled by Stripe, which receives your card details; we do not.
- On your device: the app stores your settings (appearance, language, state) and, if you are not signed in, your progress in your browser's local storage. Sign-in uses one secure cookie.
- Mistake reports you choose to send.
- Usage counts: to see where learners get stuck, the app counts a few steps: opening the app, finishing the first-run questions, the first answer, finishing a practice or exam (its type and a score range such as 80–89%), using up the free preview, opening checkout, starting and finishing sign-in (email or text message), completing a purchase, changing the language and opening the coach. Each count carries only the state and language and a random device ID that your browser makes; the ID is not linked to your account and is replaced when you reset progress. No names, email addresses, phone numbers, answers or IP addresses are stored with these counts, and no cookies are used for them. If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, nothing is counted.
Why we use it
To sign you in, save and sync your progress, check answers, give you access to what you paid for, handle refunds and the pass promise, answer your messages, keep the service secure and fix problems. We don't use your data for advertising and we don't sell or rent it.
Who we share it with
Only the providers that run Road Coach for us, under contract and only for that purpose: Stripe (payments), Twilio (sign-in codes), Cloudflare (website delivery) and our hosting provider. We may disclose information if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Account and progress data are kept while your account is active and deleted when you ask us to delete your account. Purchase records are kept as long as tax and accounting law requires. Individual usage counts are deleted after 90 days; only daily and weekly totals are kept after that.
Your choices
You can use Road Coach without signing in; progress then stays on your device. To stop usage counts, turn on Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control in your browser; resetting progress in Me also replaces the device ID. You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete your account by emailing support@roadcoach.ai from the email or phone you sign in with. Residents of some states, such as California, have additional rights under state law; we honour them the same way.
Children and teens
Road Coach is made for learner drivers, usually 15 and older, and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; if you believe we have, email us and we will delete it. Parents may contact us about a teen's account at any time.
Security
Data travels over encrypted connections, sign-in codes expire quickly, and access to member data is limited and logged.
Changes and contact
We'll post any changes here and update the date above. Questions: support@roadcoach.ai.
